Brewster Tours Report

Dear Ted and Sylvia:
The trip Nancy, Judy, Rod and I took was great. The accommodations were outstanding and we received room upgrades at each stop except Toronto but we got in 4 hours late and most of the rooms were taken at the York Hotel The train trip to Whistler was excellent. Staff, meals, condition of train and the stops along the way for scenic shots added to the enjoyment.
The boarding of the train in Vancouver was a little confusing as we waited for the Brewster agent who got there late. If we would have known, we could have gotten our boarding tickets etc on our own. However, no one from VIA seemed to understand the procedure and told us to wait for the Brewster agent. According to one VIA agent we later met later, there had been some previous confusion which seemed to be the Brewster agent arriving late.
We had good weather throughout the trip and all the side tours were well organized, buses clean and drivers very friendly. We were in Jasper on their 100 university and it was a lot of fun to see the various displays and activities.
The crew on VIA were very friendly and helpful. The dinning car personnel were young and very friendly and efficient. The meals were very good.
The train arrived in Toronto 4 ½ hours late. Understand it was due to track maintenance and also what a VIA agent said, similar to the US where freight traffic seems to get the right-a-way. I think Judy and Rod enjoyed it; however, Judy appeared concerned regarding the room size and accommodations. However, I had warned her on train travel and what to expect.
Nancy and I would certainly recommend a similar to trip to others.
